The Tel Aviv Breakfast Club - Guest Post by Vanish
In Israel, breakfast is not just some meal, it is an institution. Any Israeli child knows that breakfast must always include 2 eggs, a chopped vegetable salad, bread and many different types of cheese. Luckily, I am a known breakfast lover (I can eat breakfast for lunch and dinner too…). In Tlv there are many places have taken the simple Breakfast equation and upgraded it extremely. So please give a standing ovation to the Tel Aviv Breakfast Club:Yoezer Wine Bar
In a chilly and magical basement situated in the heart of in one Jaffa’s old alleys (Jaffa is part of Tel Aviv too…) is the very well known meat restaurant Yoezer. At Yoezer’s, which is considered a hedonists’ heaven, the owners understood that breakfast is a platform for Culinary Chaos (in a good way).Yoezer offers brunch every Saturday; this is one corrupted, indulging meal for the price of 99 shekels only. Poached eggs with truffle mushrooms are my favorite, even more then the eggs Benedict with ham or the steak with a sunny side up egg on top. There is no limit to the festivity and the cholesterol! The table will also filed up with many different high quality salads and breads, and of course a glass of Mimosa. So just sit back, eat slowly, cause on this Saturday you won’t be able to do anything else…

Café Lou
An enchanting, Parisian little café on Balfour St. surrounded by a beautiful garden. Lou offers an Israeli Parisian breakfast: omelet, chopped salad and a variety of cheese served in a very elegant manner. But the thing that won Lou its place in the Breakfast Club is most definitely the assortment of small and delicious pastries served with each breakfast. Right behind the café there is a bakery (once in a while the baker walks by with a hot tray of sweet eatables and gives you a bite). The smells, tastes and atmosphere send you right to Paris…Lou is open on weekdays and on Friday until sunset. It’s much recommended on a Friday morning if you manage to find a spot.Landver Café
I love Landver because the vibe of the place is all Israeli and I say if an Israeli Breakfast is what you are going for, why not go all the way. Landver serves the traditional Israeli Breakfast but super sized, instead of 2 eggs you will get 3, on top of the usual bread selection, they throw in some croissants, in addition to the regular spreads you get a chocolate one (how fun!) and also granola with honey and yogurt and a huge glass of OJ. To make a long story short, if you are really hungry or in a sharing mood this is the place for you.Benedict
Who would believe that there are people who love breakfast so much that they would open a place that serves breakfast 24 hours a day! At Benedict’s the whole menu is just breakfast (I will probably order the Israeli breakfast anyway… I’m a Taurus). There is a special breakfast for everyone - the sweet type, the salty lovers and even those who like to grab a steak for breakfast. And the most fun and easy part of it is that it’s all day long!
Itshik and Ruty’s
For the last 30 years Itshik and Ruty (today it’s more their continuers) have been providing the best, cheapest tastiest and fastest breakfasts in town. This is the location for Tel Avivians on the go or just passing by Shenkin St wanting to grab a bite. Unfortunately Itshik and Ruty are open only until the early afternoon and not on Saturday, but if you are an early bird they are open from about 6 am. They serve a large variety of salads so all you have to do is spread and run off. Try the egg salad because there is nothing else like it in town and you don’t mess with success.
